It’s finally here - the 26th annual AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run is Sunday, October 16, 2016! We hope to see you in Piedmont Park, whether you are participating as a walker, runner, or volunteer! Your efforts will make a significant difference in the lives of people living with and at-risk for HIV/AIDS in Atlanta!
The metro-Atlanta region accounts for more than 60% of HIV cases in
Georgia. As of 2014, there were about 15,101 persons living with HIV/AIDS in Fulton County.
Fulton accounts for about 45% of HIV cases in the metro area.
Only 73 percent of the people in the Atlanta metro area who have HIV know it, because not enough people are getting tested for the virus.
Georgia remains number 5 in the nation for new HIV infections, which makes the services of our participating organizations more necessary than ever before. AID Atlanta and the 7 participating agencies provide treatment, medications, prevention education, meals, mental health services, child care, substance abuse counseling, pastoral care, and clinical research to help thousands of our families, neighbors and friends living with, affected by, and at-risk for HIV/AIDS in Atlanta.
It’s not too late to join us – you can register & donate on-site! Come be a part of AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run!
